With sanders going and locomotives in notch-8, No. 776 tackles Elkhorn Grade in Switchback, W.Va., led by NS's Central of New Jersey heritage unit. The train weighing just over 15,000 tons is down to a crawl while assaulting the infamous ascent that has caused many stall-outs, and even a line relocation in the 1950's due to its original severity.
