Remarks & Notes

The only remaining Class 6E1 in Durban, E1394, is seen passing through the very dry and arid Ashburton Station area on an extremely hot and humid summer morning. Behind her and in a new livery is Metrorail's new Durban / Pietermaritzburg Business Express. The new set was still a work in progress at this stage and was unable to make the trip under its own power. An official launch ceremony was scheduled at Pietermaritzburg Station later in the morning, hence E1394 was assigned to dead haul the set up from the Transnet Engineering workshops in Durban for the occasion. It was believed that the new service would commence on the 1st April 2013, but as of today the service is not as yet up and running.
