| On an absolute cloud-free January afternoon in the desert Southwest, The Santa Fe intermediate semaphores signals at Wagon Mound bask in the afternoon sun, silhouetted against a vibrant blue sky. Amtrak's Southwest Chief has passed in both directions for today and the next train will not pass for nearly 20 hours. |
