It's a chilly morning and the unrelenting sound of an approaching "Hill Run" dominates the quiet valley surrounding my location. Soon, NS #U86 emerges into daylight from Tunnel #12 and crosses over, what used to be, downtown Micajah, West Virginia on a lengthy viaduct. Back in the day, Micajah used to be a thriving town, but its population dispersed many years ago and the town seemingly disappeared. Now days, the valley is only awakened by passing trains and the old community is now only accessed by a 3 mile round-trip hike. J
