An overview of West Offaly Power Station from the roof of the storage silo, looking south. This 150 MW power plant is fueled by peat stripped from nearby bogs in Cos. Offaly, Roscommon and Galway. The silo at left is where ash byproducts are collected for loading into specialized side-dump wagons. The short building immediately to the right is the tippler, containing two tracks each with a two-car rotary dumper; the empty wagons of two rakes extend out the west side of this building. The conveyor at bottom-right moves peat from the storage silo to the power plant's boilers.
