Originally built by the ATSF in their 500 series class in 1948, this waycar was later rebuilt into the Ce-3 class by the West Wichita, Kansas shops in 1968. With the new lease on life also came an updated paint job in the form of the standard bright red and yellow waycar image complete with 8 foot diameter Circle-Cross heralds. Due to the limited upgrading at their rebuilds, most of these cars were used in the local and branchline trains and had a distinctly yellow painted cupola to denote such service
