| On a damp and dreary December night in downtown Cumberland, Western Maryland Scenic, 2-8-0 No. 734 boards passengers for the nighttime Polar Express trip to Frostburg. Each year, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad hosts their Polar Express excursions, which continue through to December 23rd. The excursions are a huge hit, with tonight's train almost at its maximum occupancy, despite cold and rainy conditions. The trip over the mountain to Frostburg will be a challenge with the poor visibility and wet rail, though with an experienced crew, WMSR 734 and its passenger consist will arrive at Frostburg at 7:00 PM. |
