Shepherdstown, WV 12/1/12 - Moments before the sun breaks the horizon above the distant mountain range, the perfectly still waters of the Potomac River reflect northbound Norfolk to Detroit intermodal train NS 227 with nothing but two locomotives, likely compensating for fluxuating traffic patterns or second sections of the train. In the foreground, abanonded abutments from the earlier railroad right-of-way over the Potomac now carry only scraggly trees.
