BNSF Railway train S-LPCSCO1-04K (Intermodal Stacks; Logistics Park Chicago IL to Thenard CA) seems to stretch to infinity as it grinds up Ash Hill on the Needles Subdivision on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. This 8967' train has 102 loads and weighs 12,151 tons, and is pulled by five General Electric locomotives - a trio of ES44DCs on the head-end (7628, 7411 and 7620) and ES44C4 6793 and Dash 9-44CW 4126 on the rear. Ash Hill is named for the black volcanic rock in this area, remnants of a lava field from approximately 6000 years earlier.
