Remarks & Notes
Two of CSX’s ES44AHs, 764 and 783 sit at the “engine facility” at Rainelle, West Virginia. An ES44AH is an ES44AC that is ballasted to a greater weight for better pulling power under adverse conditions. Another of the many coal-loading points on the CSX, Rainelle was described in an X2200 magazine as having four axle power due to the primitive trackage in the area. Although some of that track remains (in the foreground), the line into Rainelle has been upgraded with heavy welded rail.
