NS 961, a special deadhead operating from Muncie to Spencer, NC for Norfolk Southern's 'family portrait' makes its trek east across the former Southern Railway mainline at Newport, east of Knoxville. The unique consist of seven light engines include Norfolk Southern's Penn Central, Virginian, Illinois Terminal, Wabash, Central of New Jersey, and Lackawanna heritage locomotives, the six final locomotives released from Progress Rail in Muncie, IN.
Crazy pool power consists, colorful gatherings of locomotives at a diesel service area, or a mixture of colorful locomotives in storage lines. A minimum of four different paint schemes required.
