| This Great Western prairie tank is no. 5541, a resident of the Dean Forest Railway. Its boiler has been overhauled at the Crewe Heritage Centre, where we see it waiting to have it refitted. The chassis has been completely overhauled at the DFR and only awaits the boiler. It left the DFR last year to come to Crewe to have its boiler refitted. The smoke box was bolted on before it left so that the boilder could be rivited on in situ. Thanks to Derek Brixey for the full info. |
