Eighteen months after being swallowed by UP, some things had not changed on the former SP. Just north of San Luis Obispo a brace of old SP road dogs brings a train down Cuesta grade, the heat from the dynamic brake grids distoring the background. SP 8664 and the two units immediately behind are former SD45's rebuilt into SD40M-2's, an interesting rebuild because it retained the distinctive flaired radiator of the SD45's.
