Most of the trains operated by BNSF Railway between Los Angeles and Barstow are intermodal trains. Relief from these is provided by a few trains headed into and out of Watson, California, that feature "real" freight cars.
Crossing the Mojave River's through-truss bridges is train M-BARWAT1-11A (merchandise, Barstow to Watson), with four big GEs on the headend and a mix of covered hoppers, tank cars and box cars.
