Remarks & Notes
Amtrak's California Zephyr train #6 has emerged from the Thistle Tunnels on the climb to 7440 ft. Soldier Summit. During the summer of 1983, riders onboard trains #5 and #6 enjoyed a picture perfect view of 'Thistle Lake', drained by the following October due to stability concerns of the mudslide that blocked the Spanish Fork River. The D&RGW 3099 is currently serving the Union Pacific Railroad as the UP 1354.
