While waiting for a southbound Amtrak Empire Service train to appear, along came this pair of CSX ex-Conrail GP38-2’s, heading away from the photographer as they operate a short “push-pull” freight of only four cars, northbound on Metro North’s Hudson line along the shore of Peekskill Bay. Less than two hours later they returned, heading back to Croton-North with one extra boxcar added to the consist. Thanks to RP contributor Jacques Leblond-Murphy for the train ID info.
