Remarks & Notes
Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 1508 was one of 70 P-5a Class locomotives built in 1918 by the Alco Locomotive Works to the USRA light Pacific design. The P-5a locomotives were very fast for their time and became the standard main line passenger locomotive, but they also did well in freight service. They had 73" drivers, 25 x 28 inch cylinders, boiler pressure of 200 lbs, and produced 40,753 lbs of tractive effort. This image from my collection shows ACL 1508 in St. Petersburg. They were all retired in the early 1950s.
