| Remarks & Notes |
| This rare photo from my collection was taken by Henry Stuart, an official for the Interstate Railroad. The scene records the short line's original RS-3, a former Alco demonstrator (1607) that came to the road in '52 (in solid blue paint with a single note "honker" air horn---hence its enduring nickname, "Blue Goose"), renumbered as 37. In fresh paint, and posed with two brand new Southern "Silverside" aluminum coal gons, the colorful unit is perched on the wooden trestle of the Dorchester Branch as a Norton-bound Hill Crew passes. The branch, the trestle, and all the equipment shown here are long gone. |
