Daylight is Fast Approaching. One of the most beautiful steam engines in the country, Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, aka the Daylight, pokes its head across the St. Croix River at Prescott and enters the state of Wisconsin. This was the Daylight's first trip east of the Mississippi in about 30 years, and many railfans, as well as non-railfans, came out to witness this historic occasion.
