The vast flat coastal farmland stretches out in all directions as a tiny local rocks and rolls out the 'Coastal's Belhaven branch on old overgrown trackage with 2 cars of lime headed for farmers at Pantego. This 17 mile branch off the old N&S is where the CLNA got its start in 1989. Since the line's acquisition of the entire Raleigh to Plymouth mainline in 2007, the company has been on a roll, expanding to three other operations including the Port of Morehead City, car storage on the old Yadkin RR, and recently the NS SB line in SC. Nonetheless, the rickety old Belhaven line soldiers on in classic shortline fashion with a couple runs a week using the CLNA's bandit GP power.
