Remarks & Notes
Southbound Seaboard System Train No. 890 was passing over the Powhite Parkway on RF&P's James River Branch in Richmond, VA on February 21, 1983. The former ACL entered Richmond over approximately 2.6 miles of RF&P track from the middle of the James River Bridge to Acca Yard. RF&P owned the north half of the massive bridge, ACL the south. The RF&P ended and the ACL began at "Pier 5" in the middle of the bridge. Although owned and maintained by the RF&P, the track was dispatched by ACL. This arrangement held through ACL, SCL, SBD, and CSX until CSX purchased the RF&P in 1991. Southbound Seaboard No. 890 was actually eastbound C&O No. 90. Shortly after CSX was created, C&O manifests No's. 90 and 91 began operating in and out of Portsmouth, VA on the Seaboard instead of Newport News on the C&O. When operating on the Seaboard, they were referred to as No's 890 and 891.
