Remarks & Notes |
The town of Ermelo is one of the best places to observe heavy coal trains heading east from the Witbank coalfields to the port of Richards Bay. Loaded 100-wagon trains arrive mostly behind Class 10E 3kV DC electrics, They are combined into 200-wagon trains and then hauled by diesels to the AC yard. Class 7E or 11E 25kV AC locomotives take over for the run to Richards Bay. These two 37's in Spoornet blue livery have brought a 200-wagon train into the AC yard and are returning to the DC yard, while six class 7E1's are readied for departure with another 200-wagon train. |
