Remarks & Notes
IATR 50 passes through a residential area on the outskirts of Mason City, heading east towards the DM&E interchange. The Iowa Traction is the last interuban freight railroad operating in the United States. It rosters four freight motors, all Baldwin-Westinghouse Steeplecabs. There are three 50-ton motors on the roster, and one 60 ton motor. No. 50, a 50-ton steeplecab, was as built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in October 1920 as Washington & Old Dominion No. 50. It was acquired by the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City in 1947 was rebuilt and renumbered 58. In 1955 it was sold to the Kansas City - Kaw Valley Railroad and became their No. 507. Finally, in 1962 the motor was sold to the Iowa Terminal and renumbered 53, later becoming IATR 50.
