C&O #490: One of my all time favorite engines - built by ALCO in 1926 as a Pacific, the C&O rebuilt this engine as a streamlined Hudson in 1946 for "Chessie" service, the C&O’s hope for the future of passenger business. Posed next to the streamliner is one of only two surviving B&O modern steam engines; #5300 also known as the "George Washington", a 4-6-2 Pacific.
