Classics meet in rural Michigan. Classic machines from intersecting eras meet at an unguarded rural grade crossing just outside Owosso, Michigan, under a changeable sky. Nickel Plate Road Locomotive #765 is a Class S-2 Berkshire Locomotive, built in 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad. Her career spanned just 14 years as she was built in the twilight of the steam era. She was retired in 1958, which just happens to be the year that this mint "Rio Red" Chevy Impala was manufactured.
This little scene was staged at the intersection of Mason Road and North Delaney Road, just a mile or two northwest of Owosso, MI, during a 2009 photo shoot, organized by Lerro Productions on the Great Lakes Central Railroad.
