“Person Power!” Hidden behind the brightly-coloured umbrella a guy propels his passengers on an improvised and very unofficial passenger “sled” in Manila. In 1996 more than a million people lived on the railway right of way in Manila and used sleds like this to get around. The lightweight unit runs on bearings and in the absence of flanges has a couple of metal guides to keep the thing on the rails. Seen passing a station on the Manila suburban mainline from a special railmotor service.
