Remarks & Notes
The modern day Nellie Bly. On August 29, 1961, PRR's New York to Atlantic City train, the Nellie Bly was annulled ending direct service between the two cities. 48 years later, NJT 4800 leads the first revenue southbound of the new ACES (Atlantic City Express Service) past Nassau Tower at Princeton Junction. Despite the number of years, the run times for both trains are very similar with the "Bly" taking 2 hours 45 minutes to make the trip and the "ACES" taking 2 hours and 47 minutes. Of course, the new service has a longer route which involves crossing into PA and turning east at Shore on the Northeast Corridor rather than running along the Delaware River between Trenton and Delair Junction.
