Merchant Navy no. 35029 Ellerman Lines was saved from Barry scrapyard in South Wales in 1975 by the National Railway Museum, York. It was then sectioned and is now on display in that condition. It serves as an educative way of showing how a steam engine works. The wheels are rotated by electric motors which then allows viewers to see the pistons and valves in action.
