Remarks & Notes
An eastbound train being pushed by PL42AC no. 4028 has no problem keeping up with traffic on parallel US Route 22. Having just departed Union Station, this train is using Conrail's Lehigh Line on its journey to Newark Penn Station. Note the abandoned "bridge to nowhere" spanning US Route 22 to the left in the photo. That structure carried a trolley line until World War II and now sits idle across the busy highway. A historical view from 1935 of a trolley crossing the structure can be seen in this photo (courtesy of Hillside Public Library).
