Remarks & Notes
Westbound Southwest Chief is on the advertised as it races through the desert at Rosario, NM. Unfortunately, both locomotives failed in Albuquerque, which was not surprising given the oil that was freely flowing down both sides of the second unit. And true to Murphy's law, the protection power in Albuquerque promptly failed when attached to the train. The whole mess was tied together behind two blue lease-fleet GP38's, where it left town without HEP and at restricted speed.

The Southwest Chief is an under-appreciated train. The New Mexico scenery is like none other in the entire system.
