Remarks & Notes
A light power set drifts by near Hager tower, behind the photographer. This power is seen again in this photo. Thanks to Pete and G.J. for the loco ID help. The N&W & PRR steamers seen on the left had only a few more week's service in Hagerstown. Rick Morrison adds, "This had to be the last few days of PRR steam. N&W steam ended a few weeks later Feburary 19, 1957. PRR notifed them in late '56 that they were no longer going to service steam in Hagerstown. N&W had to wait until they got steam generator equipped GP-9's on line to make they switch. Before that date N&W had no passenger equipped diesels."
