Remarks & Notes
In early 1993 the Champagne Railroad thru Steuben County IDA took over operations of the former Bath & Hammondsport lines and ran a tourist train from Cohocton, NY to Bath, NY on the old DL&W main and then up the original B&H to the Taylor Winery at Pleasant Valley, NY just south of Hammondsport. In this scene the train is rolling NB past a Steuben County farm on the original B&H trackage just north of Bath. The wineries at Pleasant Valley kept this line busy and gave it the “Champagne Trail” slogan but the wine traffic had ended well before this photo. B&H # 4 was built in 1950 as Nickel Plate # 85, became Norfolk & Western # 2085 and moved to B&H in 1970. The Livonia, Avon & Lakeville took over these lines in 1996.
