Standing ontop of a hill in 43 mile an hour winds I was able to capture 3 trains passing in this exposure. The first was a westbound stack train followed by an eastbound stack. Finally the Southwest Chief came through, snaking among other trains as it went across the Needles Subdivision. After everything was done, I ended up with a 1497 second exposure, almost 25 minutes.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
