| Walter's recent switchback shot made me think of this different angle. One can easily see how much elevation these things help a railroad gain. We have just shoved out of the switchback with a log train, and the approaching tracks can be seen far below though the trees. With the engine pulling between the two switchbacks, we were all well coated with cinders and are glad to be pushed again. |
