Remarks & Notes
Crossing a long fill, KLR tain T08 is entering "civilization" again at Burketon, Ontario, emerging from a somewhat difficult to access part of the route. Burketon was once the site of a junction with the Lindsay, Bobcageon, & Pontypool Railway, running from the junction at Burketon through to Lindsay and Bobcaygeon, Ontario. The Burketon-Lindsay Junction route was short-lived, being abandoned during the Great Depression in favor of the Georgian Bay and Seaboard route between Lindsay Jct. and a connection with the Havelock Sub further east at Dranoel, Ontario. Bobcaygeon was served out of Lindsay from then on until it's abandonment around 1960. CP then served Lindsay from Peterborough as needed until ownership of CP's in town trackage was transfered to CN and the Lindsay - Dranoel section abandoned in the late 1980's. Sadly, all lines radiating out of Lindsay, CN and CP, are now abandoned and the KLR's Havelock Sub is the only remaining trackage in the Kawartha region of Ontario. 1118hrs.
