Half a century has passed since this trestle on the CNJ Barnegat Branch over the Oyster Creek in Lacey last saw a train. It has survived throughout the years, through various stages of urban development, including the construction of the Oyster Bay Nuclear Generating Station in 1967, which can be seen in the background. The route of the Barnegat Branch parallels US Route 9, from where this photo was taken, for most of its length and a rail trail is in the planning stages. Compare this photo to photo 212168 over Matawan Creek to see how similar in construction these structures are.
