| Railroad Town! Downtown Roanoke as seen from the 2nd Street bridge looking east, with empty hoppers heading west. Both yellow brick buildings are old N&W offices and were recently renovated as apartments. The Tudor style building behind them is the Hotel Roanoke, built in 1882 by the N&W and now owned by Virginia Tech. Stacks and NS sign in the background are part of NS's Roanoke Shops. |
