Remarks & Notes
A Katy mixed freight heads west on the Houston Sub;a few hundred yards after crossing the Brazos River (Pipeline bridge tower in is in bg). This was an N106, an as needed train from Eureka Yard that handled traffic for Bellmead Yard in Waco, Fort Worth, Ray Yard in Denison, Muskogee, Parsons, and Kansas City. It was scheduled to leave Houston at 1155AM and arrived in 18th St. Yard in Kansas City at 200PM. #627 was one of 38 SD40-2 Katy rostered and was delivered in August 1980. She was retired by the UP in May of 2001. After the SP merger this line was cut by UP at Katy, TX.
